• Injury in a deep leg vein.
• Tumor in the lower part of the tummy

Are there any complications of varicose veins?

Yes; complications may develop in a small number of cases. Complications are due to the higher pressure in the varicose vein and the visible size of the varicose veins is not related to the complications whatsoever.

Possible complications include:

• Inflammation of the vein

• Skin changes over the prominent veins
• Rarely, varicose veins may bleed
